The Volkswagen Foundation invites applications for the Lichtenberg professorships. These offer researchers a professorial position at a German university of their choice in any field of research.
Applicants may be researchers of any nationality, the host institution must be a university based in Germany and the application has to be submitted by the candidate and university together. Candidates must be at professor level and be a leading researcher in their field at international level. They must have had a change of academic environment and location within the last five years. In order to receive support, the university must offer €3 million of funding.
Grants are worth up to €2m.
