The Brain Foundation invites applications for its research gifts programme. This supports individual researchers and research teams in conducting research in clinical neuroscience. Grants are available in the following categories:
- Alzheimer’s disease, Dementias and other cognitive disturbances;
- Brain Tumour including Acoustic Neuroma;
- cerebrovascular including stroke, aneurysms, AVM;
- concussion and traumatic brain injury;
- epilepsy;
- infections, meningitis and Encephalitis;
- migraine and headache;
- MND/ALS and other neuro degenerative diseases;
- multiple scleosis and other inflammatory diseases;
- movement disorders including Parkinson’s and related diseases, dystonia, Huntington’s, PSP;
- •paediatric neurology;
- neuromuscular including muscular dystrophies, myopathies and neuropathies;
- other research areas in neuroscience.
Researchers in Australia may apply. Preference is given to innovative and pilot studies and early-career investigators that are either clinicians or neuroscientists to help them establish an ongoing research programme, or as supplementation of an existing grant. One application per person or team is allowed.
The total amount of funding available depends on the income of the foundation. As a guide, grants awarded in 2021 were worth up to AUD 40,000 each. The funding period may not exceed one year.
