Abstract

This project contributes to the reparation of anti-LGBT hate crimes, by guaranteeing the victim’s rights, through the promotion of restorative justice (RJ) in the EU.
Objectives: To map EU legislation regarding RJ and the rights of victims; To analyse the perspectives of victims of anti- LGBT hate crimes and key professionals; To identify and study programmes of RJ in cases of hate crimes; To foster the exchange of experiences and the cooperation between professionals; To develop training guidelines and courses for RJ practitioners; To raise-awareness about the RJ efficacy; To enhance the rights of victims established in the Directive 2012/29/EU.
Activities: Transnational analysis on the legislation, as well as victims and key professionals’ perspectives; Workshops to exchange experiences and promote cooperation; Identification of training needs and development of training for trainers; Awareness-raising and dissemination activities.
Target groups: 140 professionals and victims will be involved through the interviews; 180 representatives of LGBT/ civil organisations through the survey; 105 professionals who deal with anti-LGBT violence and/or RJ programmes because of the workshops; 120 RJ professionals thanks to the training of trainers courses; 260 victims, civil (LGBT) organisations, RJ professionals, policy-makers, justice practitioners, academics and journalists through the info-days and final conference.
Results: Increased understanding about the perspectives of victims and key professionals; Improved knowledge about the successful programmes on RJ; Strengthened cooperation between key professionals; Enhanced capacity of the RJ practitioners to apply RJ in cases of anti-LGBT hate crimes; Increased awareness about the RJ efficacy.
Deliverables: 6 national reports on qualitative/quantitative research; 1 transnational report; 6 National and 1 transnational best practices/cooperation workshops; 2 brochures; 12 training courses; 6 info-days; 7 videos.
