Global Intensive: Energy Systems in the Built Environment Course – 13-25 maggio 2023
Si svolgerò, presso il POLIMI, dal 13 al 25 maggio 2023 il corso dal tiolo: “Global Intensive: Energy Systems in the Built Environment“.
Since the spring semester 2018, the Global Intensive “Energy System in the Built Environment” has become a joint initiative promoted by Politecnico di Milano – Polo Territoriale di Lecco (Italy) and University of Colorado Boulder (USA). The course has been established by proff. Graziano Salvalai, Gregor Henze and Marta M. Sesana with the operative support of Danielle Felix from Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI) University of Colorado Boulder.
Objective
The overall objective of this Global Intensive is to prepare students for professional practice in the area of building technology and mechanical systems design for office buildings. Upon completion of the class in Lecco, students will possess the skills to design envelope solutions with building energy simulations and calculate heating, cooling, and ventilation requirements, design and evaluate conventional HVAC systems to meet these requirements in the context of codes and standards, and design and evaluate low-energy systems for sustainable buildings.
Course format
The course offers an intensive learning experience by combining lectures, field study and design exercise. The workshop activities will be hosted in the Lecco Campus of Politecnico di Milano and will focus on the teamwork collaboration with the aim to design a commercial office building with engineering focuses on building envelope with HVAC system.
