The European Commission has presented 3 options for boosting Research & Development (R&D) on dual-use technology, according to a white paper on technologies with dual-use potential. The intent is to break the silos between civilian research programmes such as Horizon Europe and the military-focused European Defence Fund.
A present challenge is the lack of a common definition of what “dual-use” consists of, as such, the Commission invites interested parties to share their views on what elements can constitute the building blocks of a definition of technologies with dual-use potential.
