Effective management of intellectual property (IP) is a cornerstone of success for any project funded under the Horizon Europe framework programme. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) are no exception. Participants are strongly encouraged to familiarise themselves with the relevant IP rules and to develop a tailored strategy for the protection and exploitation of research results and intellectual property generated within their projects.
To support this effort, the European IP Helpdesk has released a new fact sheet outlining the main IP-related aspects that MSCA participants should consider at different stages of their projects. The document provides practical guidance on identifying, managing, and safeguarding intellectual assets, ensuring that researchers and institutions can maximise the value of their results while maintaining compliance with Horizon Europe rules.
The publication also explains the specific IP provisions contained in the Model Grant Agreement (MGA), as well as the content and function of other agreements commonly used within MSCA projects such as consortium agreements, partnership agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
By clarifying these key principles, the fact sheet aims to help project participants design effective IP management strategies that foster innovation, collaboration, and impact both during and beyond the project’s lifecycle.
