Neurodegenerative diseases: new Research and Innovation Strategy of the Joint Program Neurodegenerative Disease Research published

The Joint Program – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) has published the updated version of its Research and Innovation Strategy (RIS).

The RIS publication summarizes the vision of the 30 JNPD member states and renews the proposal published in 2012, in order to provide a common framework for supporting research on neurodegenerative diseases.

In particular, the JPND has identified a series of scientific issues on which to concentrate the efforts of future research:

  • The origin and progression of neurodegenerative diseases;
  • Mechanisms and models of the disease;
  • Diagnosis, prognosis and definitions of the disease;
  • Development of therapies, strategies and preventive interventions;
  • Health and social assistance.
