LIFE program: more than 1100 applications received

More than 1100 proposals were received for the last call for traditional projects of the LIFE Environment sub-program, with deadlines between 17 and 20 June 2019.

54% of the proposals relate to the “environment and resource efficiency” area, 31% to the “nature and biodoversity” sector and 15% are included in the “environmental information and governance” category.

In total, the projects cost € 4 billion, divided as follows:

  • environment and resource efficiency: € 2.3 billion;
  • nature and biodiversity: € 1.4 billion;
  • environmental governance and information: € 369 million.

The requested European contributions amount to € 2.2 billion, a figure ten times higher than the budget of 225 million that the Commission has made available for the projects that will be approved.

The results will be published in October 2019. The deadline for the submission of complete proposals will be in February 2020.
