Member States are discussing 9 new proposals for research partnerships for the future Horizon Europe program and include topics such as antibiotic resistance, smart cities, shipping and forests.
These proposals come from the states themselves and not from the European Commission, and would join the 44 partnerships advocated by the latter last May. The proposals were put forward by the national delegates involved in the planning of Horizon Europe, at the last convocation which took place on 12 September 2019. None of the proposals has yet received the approval of the Commission and the negotiations continue.
The purpose for the next programming is to drastically reduce the number of research partnerships, more than 100 in the current Horizon 2020, which consist of projects carried out in collaboration between the European Union, the Member States and the private and academic sector .
The themes proposed are the following:
- Antimicrobial resistance
- Social transformation
- Smart and zero-emission water transport
- Brain health
- Sustainable, smart and inclusive cities and communities
- Future forests and forestry
- A European geological service
- Materials and production
- Cultural heritage
