The Social Science Research Council’s Transregional Collaboratory on the Indian Ocean invites applications for its transregional planning grants. These support the development of collaborative research projects that deepen understanding of the effects of political, economic and social processes in contexts of climate and environmental change in and across Indian Ocean countries. Eligible activities include preliminary field research, networking and workshops. The aim is to develop robust projects eligible for future funding. Applications that bridge disciplinary and geographic boundaries are strongly encouraged.
Scholars and professionals working in the social sciences and allied disciplines, including the physical and natural sciences where relevant, may apply. The principal investigator should hold a PhD in a relevant field and be fully embedded and engaged with the Indian Ocean region. Co-PIs and other team members should demonstrate interest in the region. Applications are encouraged from individuals, small teams at the early stages of formation, and established research teams intending to embark on new areas of inquiry.
Grants are worth up to USD 35,000 each for 12 months.
Deadline: 8th May 2020.
