Within the LIFE program – environment subprogram – over 1,500 concept notes were presented by the whole EU in response to call for proposal for traditional projects, deadline between 14 and 16 July 2020.
The proposed projects have a total cost of over 5.1 billion euros, broken down as follows:
- environment and resource efficiency (56% of the proposals): 2.8 billion euro;
- nature and biodiversity (28% of the proposals): 1.8 billion euro;
- environmental governance and information (16% of the proposals): € 513 million
Candidates are asking for around € 2.8 billion of funding to EU. The figure has increased compared to 2.2 billion euros in 2019 and shows the high level of interest in the LIFE program.
The European Commission will evaluate the concept notes and inform applicants of the results in November 2020. Those whose concept notes have been pre-selected will then be able to work on their complete project proposals. The deadline for submission is February 2021.
