Wellcome invites applications for its principal research fellowships. These provide long-term funding for researchers of international standing.
Researchers of international standing with an established track record in research at the highest level may apply. They must have sponsorship from an eligible host organisation in the UK or Republic of Ireland. The sponsor must guarantee that the host organisation will provide sponsorship to renew the fellowship every five years, 50 per cent of employment costs during a renewal period and an established post when the award ends.
Candidates who hold an established post in the UK or Republic of Ireland will need to make a strong case to justify the requested move.
The fellowship is for an initial period of seven years, or five if applicants hold a UK based senior research fellowship, and covers a basic salary, personal removal expenses and research expenses.
This scheme will close to applicants during 2021.
