The European Commission has launched a call for evidence and public consultation, encouraging all relevant stakeholders to help shape the upcoming European Innovation Act. As a central element of the EU Startup and Scaleup Strategy, the Act is designed to support the journey of innovative ideas from research to market across all sectors. It seeks to overcome obstacles in commercialising research, enhance cooperation between academia and industry, and improve access to markets, funding, talent, and infrastructure for innovative businesses. Additionally, it aims to foster a more innovation friendly environment regulatory, policy, and investment-wise across the EU, empowering European innovators to scale up and compete globally.
Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, said: “We must create the best possible framework conditions for innovators, and give them the opportunities they need to Choose Europe for developing their products and solutions, thriving in the Single Market and turning into global players. We want to hear from innovators, businesses, investors, policymakers, researchers, universities, and all interested parties to build an ambitious and effective innovation framework that will delivers real results.”
The call for evidence and the public consultation are open for contributions until 3 October 2025.
