Horizon Europe: selected experts who will define new research and innovation missions

The European Commission has announced the names of the experts who will work on the definition of the future research and innovation missions of Horizon Europe, the next European Union research and innovation program.

Each “Mission boards” is composed of 15 experts, including the president. Each commission will support the European Commission in identifying specific missions for each of the Missions foreseen by Horizon Europe. Below the identified Missions and the Presidents of the relevant Boards:

  1. Adaptation to climate change including societal transformation – Ms Connie Hedegaard
  2. Cancer – Prof. Harald zur Hausen
  3. Healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters – Mr Pascal Lamy
  4. Climate-neutral and smart cities – Prof. Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz
  5. Soil health and food – Mr Cees Veerman

Furthermore, for each mission board a meeting will be established that will bring together additional sector experts, providing support and further ideas, knowledge and expertise on the specific subject.
