The European Commission has adopted the Work Program 2019-2020 of the Joint Research Center – JRC, the Commission’s internal scientific service funded under the Horizon 2020 program, which provides support to the EU decision-making process through independent scientific advice.
The key orientations contained in the Work Program reflect the work that the JRC will carry out over the two-year period and are structured in accordance with the 10 political priorities of the Commission.
The Center will continue to support “Better Regulation” initiatives to enable the EU to legislate better, through its expertise in data analysis, elaboration of monitoring schemes and advice on scientific and technical aspects. New ways of involving citizens on specific scientific and policy issues will also be evaluated.
The JRC will strengthen its contribution to the Data4Policy working group on better use of data and will support Member States by opening their research infrastructures, assisting states and regions in developing smart specialization strategies and adopting knowledge sharing platforms.
