Despite the results of the recent European elections we represented a change in Europe, in favor of the right or the “greens” / liberals depending on the point of view, MEPs committed to the next EU Research and Development Program Horizon Europe have maintained their place in Parliament and probably will be able to continue their work on the Program and in the budget negotiations to be assigned: Jerzy Buzek (Poland), Christian Ehler (Germany) and Dan Nica (Romania), as well as other key players of the Industry Committee , Research and Energy.
There were obviously also departures from this Committee following the election results. But several newly elected parliamentarians could be candidates to join the Committee, considering their background and expressed interests. An example: the French oceanographer Pierre Karleskind, eager to promote research and development in the sustainable use of marine resources, as an engine for economic growth.
The work of this Committee is very important because it has to examine EU legislation on research or industry. In the past, the committee met 78 times, passing judgment on 64 issues.
However, the question remains of the entry into Parliament of new MEPs, Eurosceptic and / or sovereign groups, and their positions towards the funds to be assigned to research and development starting from the new programming.
