Due to the “precious and extraordinary scientific contribution made to date“, prof. Francesco Castelli, Professor of Infectious Diseases of the University of Brescia and Director of the School of Specialization in Infectious Diseases, was invited to take part in the Covid-19 Technical Scientific Committee, established by the Lombardy Region with Decree no. 4663 of 17/04/2020 to deal with the prolongation of the emergency. “The appointment recognizes and rewards the clinical and scientific research activity of Prof. Castelli and the long tradition of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases School born at the University of Brescia with the support of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Clinic of the Spedali Civili ”, declares the Rector Prof. Maurizio Tira. Brescia is also awarded, its intensivists, infectious disease specialists, rheumatologists, internists, immunologists, radiologists, pediatricians, whose work at the forefront of this emergency is unmatched in Lombardy. Professor Castelli led, among others, the editorial coordination of the “Vademecum for the treatment of people with COVID-19 disease” of the Lombardy section of SIMIT – Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases – with the aim of supporting clinicians in therapeutic decisions . He is also Rector’s Delegate for relations with the health system, Delegate for International Cooperation and Development, owner of the UNESCO Chair “Training and empowering human resources for health development in resource-limited countries”, established at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Sciences of the University of Brescia.
